Signing up, proving where you are, and getting money on and off.
What the state requires
You must be 21 or over, and you must be physically inside New Jersey while you play for real money. Residency is not the test - a visitor can play, and a New Jersey resident sitting in Pennsylvania cannot.
Every room listed on this site runs under a licence tied to an Atlantic City casino and is regulated by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.
Signing up
- Expect to give your legal name, address, date of birth and the last four of your Social Security number. This is identity verification the operator is required to do, not marketing.
- You will install a geolocation plug-in, or grant location access on a phone. Real-money play will not start until it confirms you are in state.
- One account per person per room. Multiple accounts is the fastest way to have a balance confiscated.
When the location check fails
This is the most common problem new players hit, and it is almost never the account. Near the state line, on a VPN, on a desktop with no wifi hardware, or on a corporate network, the check can fail while you are genuinely in New Jersey.
- Turn off any VPN completely.
- On a laptop, make sure wifi is on even if you are on ethernet - the check uses nearby networks to place you.
- On a phone, set location permission to precise rather than approximate.
- Move away from the state border if you are close to it.
Money on and off
Licensed rooms take debit and credit cards, bank transfer, and the usual online wallets. Some also let you deposit and withdraw in cash at the partner casino's cage, which is often the fastest route for a large sum.
Withdrawals take longer than deposits, and the first one usually needs additional documents. Gambling winnings are taxable income. This site is not tax advice; talk to someone qualified if the numbers get serious.
